As REDD+ implementation will affect many actors, it is important that it involves a multi-stakeholder process, involving governments and civil society in East Africa. This paper outlines the status of REDD+ processes, opportunities and challenges in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, and points out current and potential synergies between REDD+ and the key economic sectors of agriculture and food security; energy for rural development; and water resources management.
